Concepts 1 & 2 | Explorations incorporating handicraft

techniques, highlighted in minimalist detail.

Concepts 3 & 4 | Usage of conventional and unconventional materials.

1.

Channapatna | Lathe turned white ash or pine with a finish of organic lacquer and pigments. Inspired from the art of Channapatna toy making based in India.

Seat fabric- Kantha Embroidery / Banana silk fabric.

2.

Bidri | A technique that comprises inlay of silver wire in a metal alloy base such as white brass that is blackened for a dramatic effect. The feet are the only elements

that incorporate this technique, the base is made of bent plywood.

3.

Composite recycled plastic | An iteration that includes the use of molded composite recycled plastic, and finished with a molded seat base assembled together.

4.

Conventional Upholstered form | Internal structure of 12 mm ply, layered with 6mm 30 grade foam, 20 mm 32 grade foam and the innermost cushion made of 40

grade foam, an upholstered curved ply segment that projects upward to provide a back support.
